What this site is
A free, non-commercial digital archive of historical trademarks and symbols, made for research, education and design history. It has no advertising, no accounts and nothing for sale.
The marks and their credits were digitized from these printed reference books:
- Top Symbols and Trademarks of the World, Volumes 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7, edited by Franco Maria Ricci and Corinna Ferrari, Deco Press, Milan, 1973.
- Yasaburō Kuwayama, Trade Marks & Symbols, Volume 1 (Alphabetical Designs) and Volume 2 (Symbolical Designs), Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1973.
This site is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by the publishers of these books, their editors, or any company, designer or organisation shown.
Trademarks
Every mark shown here belongs to its respective owner. Marks appear only to document their design and history, not to identify or promote any goods or services. Their appearance does not suggest any connection between this site and the owner. Many of the companies shown no longer exist or have changed their identity since 1973.
Copyright
The designs remain the work of their designers and owners. Credits shown with each mark (designer, agency, client, year) come from the source books and are reproduced as historical facts.
The marks are shown for scholarship, research, criticism, commentary and teaching about graphic design history. We believe this is a fair use under Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 107): the archive is non-commercial and transformative in purpose (searchable reference rather than a substitute for the books), and it does not compete with any market for these designs. Fair use is decided case by case, and this statement is not a claim that any particular use is beyond dispute.
Credits and descriptions were produced by optical character recognition and may contain errors.
Removal requests
If you own the rights to a mark, a credit or any other material here and want it changed or removed, email contact@micr.dev. Requests are handled promptly, and material is taken down while a request is reviewed.
To help us act quickly, please include:
- the work you believe is infringed, and the mark's number or a link to it on this site;
- your name and contact details;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner;
- your physical or electronic signature.
These are the elements of a notice under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)). Informal requests are welcome too.
Reusing material from this site
This site grants no rights in the marks or designs it shows. If you want to use a mark, you are responsible for getting any permission its owner or designer requires. The site's own code and layout may not be presented as your own work.

The web server, like any server, may briefly keep standard request logs (IP address, time and the address requested) to keep the site running and secure. These logs are not used to identify visitors or shared with anyone.
